City Commission To Consider Improvement Project For Historic Courthouse

The former Delaware County Courthouse, a landmark at the corner of North Sandusky Street and West Central Avenue since 1868, will be the focus of an application by the Delaware County Commissioners at a February 27 meeting of the Delaware Historic Preservation Commission.

County EMS Citizens Academy Returns

The Delaware County Emergency Medical Services department has announced the return of its Citizens Academy. This free weekly course provides Delaware County residents with a hands-on and up-close education about emergency services in the county.

Beginning March 14 and continuing for 10 weeks, Citizens Academy participants will attend an evening class every Thursday from 7 PM to 9 PM and during two Saturdays from 8 AM to 1 PM. Classes will take place at EMS headquarters, located at 10 Court St. in downtown Delaware, and occasionally at EMS stations in the county. More…

County Haz-Mat Drills Next Week

A number of Delaware County agencies will conduct hazardous-materials training drills from Tuesday, January 22, through Thursday, January 24, inside the historic Delaware County Courthouse. The building is located at 91 N. Sandusky St. in downtown Delaware, at the northwest corner of Sandusky Street and Central Avenue.

Man Indicted After Alleged Burglary; Enters Not Guilty Plea

A Delaware County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against 40-year-old Nathaniel E. Worsham of Galena.

Charges come after a 911 call on December 30, 2018 reporting a burglary in progress. “An elderly couple returned to their Galena home to find an unknown male inside their residence,” said Delaware County Prosecutor Carol O’Brien. “The husband held the man at gunpoint while his wife alerted authorities.” More…

Commissioners Approve $113 Million Budget For 2019

On Thursday, the Delaware County Board of Commissioners approved its budget for 2019. The $113,275,365 figure approved for General Fund expenditures increases operating expenditures by 4.3 percent over 2018 levels. This increase will allow for some modest increases in staffing and a 3.0 percent raise in salaries for non-union employees.
