The City of Delaware has provided recent updates on Facebook as to the status of the ongoing East William Street widening project.

According to the posts, one lane two-way traffic will continue on East William Street on Tuesday between 9 AM and 3 PM. Delays are to be expected during the work, and motorists may choose to take alternate routes. More…

Proposed Storefront Changes To Downtown Building To Be Reviewed

At its meeting later this week, the City of Delaware Historic Preservation Commission will be reviewing proposed storefront alterations to a 140 to 150 year old commercial building at 67 North Sandusky Street.

Through an informal review, the Commission can comment on proposals before they actually come for an official vote. In most cases, such as this one, the information provided by the applicant includes a recommendation from the City’s planning staff. In this case, the recommendation is for eventual project approval. Main Street Delaware To Host Kick-Off Dinner, Chocolate Walk

The annual Main Street Delaware Kick-Off Dinner will be held from 6 PM to 9 PM on January 22.

The 2019 edition features a progressive dinner with four stops at some of the downtown area’s best eateries.

Ticketholders will enjoy appetizers at Gather, and will finish at 1808 American Bistro where the annual meeting will take place. Updates, recognitions, and a Board of Directors vote will be included.

School, VFW Expansions Lead Commission Agenda

Expansion plans for two buildings will be considered on Wednesday evening by the City of Delaware Planning Commission.

Leading the evening’s agenda will be a request by Delaware City Schools for approval of a Preliminary and Final Development Plan for an expansion of Schultz Elementary School, located at 499 Applegate Lane.

According to information filed with the request for approval, Schultz Elementary School was constructed in 1994, and the new expansion would add 16,662 square feet to the building. In connection with the larger school, a new bus drop-off road would be added north of Penick Avenue extension through the middle of the school site, which would run from a new connection road between the Delaware Meadows subdivision and the Sunnyview Farms subdivision.
