Liberty Road Intersection Closed For Roundabout Project

A Liberty Township intersection will be closed for the next month and a half to enable construction of a new roundabout.

According to the office of the Delaware County Engineer, the Liberty Road/Salisbury Drive roundabout will include north turn lanes at the intersection of Liberty Road and Libertydale Drive/St. Joan of Arc driveway. The project will connect the existing shared use path on Salisbury Drive to the sidewalks on Libertydale Drive.

The proposed Project improvements to Liberty Road will begin approximately 500 feet south of the intersection with Libertydale Drive to approximately 750 feet north of the intersection of Salisbury Drive. More…

Powell is being showcased on July 18 via the Taste of Powell Tour, hosted by the Powell Chamber of Commerce. Experience great breweries, restaurants, and other attractions in Powell and Liberty Township from 10 AM to 8 PM.

Living In Liberty Branding Campaign Underway; Input Needed

This past week, Liberty Township issued the following notice:

“We are excited to be moving into our fourth phase of Public Engagement of our #LivinginLiberty Branding Campaign! So far, we have met the steering committee, launched our survey monkey community engagement option and are in the midst of facilitating multiple focus groups.

We have conducted a Community Partner Focus Group (February 18th), which includes Liberty Township leaders and organization and a Homeowner’s Association Focus Group (March 4th) that involves leaders of local Liberty HOAs. In the pipeline, we have a Business Focus Group, comprised of local business leaders, as well as a Citizens Focus Group, which represents single-family homeowners that are not members of an HOA. Delaware County, Liberty Township Team Up To Refinance YMCA

Delaware County Treasurer Michael Ringle announced on February 2 that his office will purchase $2.4 million in bonds that will enable Liberty Township to refinance the YMCA.

“This is truly a win-win proposition for both sides,” Ringle said. “By purchasing the bonds, we can offer Liberty Township a lower interest rate than they can obtain on the open market. These bonds will save taxpayers more than $120,000 in interest payments over the life of the bonds. At the same time, all Delaware County taxpayers will benefit as the interest payments are higher than what’s available to us on the open market.” More…

Liberty Township Fire Department Improves Insurance Rating

Good news this week in southern Delaware County.

The Liberty Township Fire Department has improved the Insurance Services Organization (ISO) rating for Liberty Township and the City of Powell to a rating of 3 following a recent survey of the department. The Department had previously received a rating of 4.

ISO’s Public Protection Classification Program (PPC) evaluates communities according to a uniform set of criteria, incorporating nationally recognized standards developed by the National Fire Protection Association and the American Water Works Association. More…

Liberty Township Takes Steps Toward Business Recovery

During the Liberty Township Board of Trustees meeting on Monday evening, the Board moved to create an advisory body to assist the Township’s business community as it moves forward with Responsible Restart Ohio and beyond.

Work has been underway to establish a Liberty Township Economic Recovery Advisory Committee, whose objective will be “…to assemble business and community leaders representing various industries to identify and advise on opportunities to expedite business recovery and drive opportunity to the area.” More…

Porch Parade Starts Friday Night In Powell And Liberty Township

The Liberty Township Fire Department, Powell Police Department, Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and Olentangy Local School District are hosting a Porch Parade from 6 to 8 PM on Friday, May 1; noon to 2 PM on Saturday, May 2; and 3 to 5 PM on Sunday, May 3. The parade will feature a fire truck, ambulance, school bus and police cruisers.

Residents are encouraged to wave American flags inside or outside of their homes, decorate their sidewalks or driveways with chalk and to practice good social distancing. More…
