When the temperatures begin to think about falling – which they haven’t done to any great degree recently – it’s time for communities to begin planning for that colder weather.

That process invariably includes shutting up warm weather facilities, particularly those involving interaction with water.

In Delaware, the splash pad at Veterans Park and swimming pool at Mingo Park will close for the season after this holiday weekend. Splash pad hours are 10 AM to 8 PM on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday; pool hours are Noon to 7 PM on the same dates; and then the Doggie Dive-In will be open on September 7 from 6 to 8 PM,

The Splash Pad in Village Green Park in Powell is also preparing to close for the season.  Normal hours are 9 AM to 9 PM  seven days/week. The hours will change to 9 AM to 3 PM on September 5-9, and Friday, September 9, will be the final day of operation for 2022.

Speaking of the impending arrival of fall, Delaware has just published its Fall & Winter Recreation Guide. Delaware Parks and Recreation has something for the entire family this Fall and Winter.
