The first year that the Delaware County Fair was held, in 1834, the prize for best cow was $3.00, and the award for the best piece of linen, ten yards or more, was $2.00.

Much has changed since then, but not the basics – the Delaware County Agricultural Society still holds this traditional county fair each year, featuring daily entertainment, Junior and Senior fair animals and exhibits, and awards. In the mix are tractor pull and motor events for all ages. World-class harness racing is featured.

Of course, the midway with rides and games and up to 80 great fair food booths are always present.

The fun starts this coming Saturday at the Delaware County Fairgrounds off of Pennsylvania Avenue.

Feature Days include the following:

  • Saturday, September 14 – Fidelity Federal Savings and Loan Association Day
  • Sunday, September 15 – Delaware-Morrow Mental Health and Recovery Services Board Day
  • Monday, September 16 – Delaware Area Career Center Day
  • Tuesday, September 17 – Delaware General Health District Day and Senior Citizens Day
  • Wednesday, September 18 – Nationwide Children’s Hospital Day and Judgette Day
  • Thursday, September 19 – Ohio Health/Grady Memorial Hospital Day and Jug Day
