Endangered Turtles Hatched In Breeding Milestone

Two new babies at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium may be tiny, but they bring big hopes for one of the most endangered species on the planet. On November 1 and 3, reptile keepers at the Zoo’s Shores region successfully hatched these rare yellow-headed temple turtles (Heosemys annandalii), the first ever hatched in an indoor zoological environment. County Recorder Appointed To Statewide Committee

At its annual Winter Conference, held Nov. 18-20 in Columbus, the Ohio Recorders Association and incoming ORA president Ann Block of Monroe County appointed Delaware County Recorder Melissa Jordan to the association’s Continuing Education Committee for the upcoming year.

“I am honored by the appointment to the Continuing Education Committee by our new ORA President, Recorder Block,” Jordan said, “and to be entrusted with the important task of working with fellow committee members and bringing innovative ideas to the table for future Continuing Education opportunities for Ohio Recorders statewide.” More…

Tanger Outlets adding mystery fee to customers’ bills, lawsuit says

A Cincinnati man has filed a class-action case against Tanger Outlets, accusing the mall and its tenants of charging customers a hidden fee. The fee of a half cent for each $1 in sales, designed to help pay the outlet mall’s debts, “unjustly enriches” the stores and the mall because it is not disclosed, according to the suit.

Preservation Parks Offering Winter Letterbox Adventure

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) established National Influenza Vaccination Week (NIVW) in 2005 to highlight the importance of continuing flu vaccination through the holiday season and beyond. Previous flu vaccination coverage data have shown that few people get vaccinated against influenza after the end of November. The CDC and its partners choose December for NIVW to remind people that even though the holiday season has begun, it is not too late to get a flu vaccine. More…
