Delaware Countians Chosen For State Of Ohio Positions

Delaware County has a long history of being home to men and women who volunteer their time and energy to serve in unpaid positions on state boards and commissions.

That tradition appears to continue in 2022 as reflected in one of Governor DeWine’s most recent announcements concerning appointments to such bodies. This past week, the following two individuals were selected to serve:

Dilip Rasiklal Shah of Powell has been appointed to the Shawnee State University Board of Trustees for a term beginning June 27, 2022, and ending June 30, 2030. More…

WSCD Has A New Executive Director of Elementary Schools

Cheryl Relford, who leads curriculum implementation across Westerville City Schools’ elementary schools, has been selected to serve as the district’s new Executive Director of Elementary Schools.

Pending approval by the WCSD Board of Education, she will assume the role after Barbara Wallace, who spent more than 30 years in the district, retired this year. Wallace had served as executive director since 2014.

As Executive Director of Elementary Schools, Relford will oversee the district’s elementary school programs and administrators, including the district’s Magnet and All-Day Kindergarten programs. More…

Expanding The OWU Connection

Ohio Wesleyan University has appointed two current employees to fill new leadership roles within the OWU Connection as the program is expanded and fully incorporated into the student curriculum.

David Markwardt, Ph.D., professor of Biological Sciences, becomes the OWU Connection’s new associate dean, and Megan Ellis, M.Ed., executive director of the OWU Career Connection, becomes executive director of the OWU Connection. Both appointments are effective May 16.

Ohio Wesleyan’s faculty approved a plan in January to reimagine an OWU education, which includes incorporating the OWU Connection into all aspects of the curriculum as of fall 2023. The OWU Connection helps students to think big (understand issues from multiple academic disciplines), go global (gain international perspective), get real (translate classroom knowledge into real-world experience), and do good (volunteer to help others). Delaware Countians Receive State Appointments

Three Delaware Countians were recently appointed to statewide positions by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine.

Thomas Edwin Allenstein of Lewis Center has been reappointed to the State Board of Emergency Medical, Fire, and Transportation Services for a term beginning April 18, 2022 and ending Nov. 12, 2024.

The State Board of Emergency Medical, Fire, and Transportation Services consists of 21 members. Appointees represent Ohio’s fire and emergency medical services, private medical transportation services, mobile intensive care providers, air medical providers, trauma programs, hospitals, emergency physicians, EMS training programs and the Ohio Department of Public Safety. New Member Joins Delaware County Board Of Elections

The Delaware County Board of Elections has a new member.

Tom Foos, a Republican and 27-year resident of Delaware County, was sworn in by Delaware County Probate/Juvenile Court Judge David Hejmanowski during a March 8 ceremony at the BOE’s headquarters.

Foos, who retired from the U.S. Marine Corps as a lieutenant colonel and runs a security and preparedness consulting firm out of Powell, said he’s proud to represent the voters of Delaware County.

“I am honored to have been selected and appointed as a member of the Delaware County Board of Elections,” Foos said. “I look forward to working with other board members, ensuring our Board of Elections continues to set the highest standards in elections operations and integrity.” More…

SourcePoint Welcomes New Board Members

SourcePoint announces the appointment of four new members to its board of directors, as well as the full slate of officers and board members for 2022. Joining the board of directors are Randy Bournique, Pamela Foster, Liz Gitter, and Joann Richards.

Randy Bournique, a Delaware resident, has a great deal of nonprofit experience with another community organization. He most recently retired as executive director of People In Need, Inc. of Delaware County. Prior to joining PIN in 2012, Bournique served on the organization’s board of directors for two terms. He volunteers for the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Parish and previously coordinated the church’s Giving Tree Program to support the Holiday Clearing House in Delaware.

Four Delaware Countians Receive State Appointments

Four Delaware Countians were recently appointed to statewide positions by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine.

Timothy Leland Kolb of Delaware has been appointed to the State Veterinary Medical Licensing Board for a term beginning Jan. 1, 2022 and ending Dec. 31, 2024.

The Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board’s mission is to ensure that the citizens of Ohio are served by professional, trustworthy and competent veterinarians and veterinary technicians.

James Harry Cottle of Westerville has been reappointed to the Dentist Loan Repayment Advisory Board for a term beginning Jan. 29, 2022 and ending Jan. 28, 2024.

The Ohio Dentist Loan Repayment Program provides loan repayment for dentists who practice in a designated shortage area, treat Medicaid patients, and provide care to patients regardless of their ability to pay. More…

Five Delaware Countians Appointed To Statewide Boards

Over the last 200 years, Delaware County has produced more than its fair share of statewide governmental leaders.

Powell City Council has appointed Amy Deere to serve as the new City Clerk.

Deere most recently served with the city of Urbana as the Clerk of Council. Previously, she served as the Executive Legal Secretary for the municipal prosecutor and as a victim advocate coordinator with the city of Urbana. More…

Powell Has A New Parks And Rec Manager

The city of Powell has hired Melissa Hindman as the city’s new Parks and Recreation Manager.

Melissa most recently served as the Marketing and Community Outreach Supervisor for the city of Worthington. She also served as a Recreation Supervisor for the city of Worthington as well as a Recreation Leader for the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department. Melissa has a Bachelor of Science in Education from The Ohio State University.

“We are excited to have Melissa join our team,” said City Manager Andrew White. “Melissa will work with the Parks and Recreation staff to build on programming and events that are offered to the community. Our goal as a city is to continue enhancing the quality of life experience in Powell for our residents and businesses.
