Delaware County EMS Director Named To State Board

Delaware County’s Emergency Medical Services Director Jeff Fishel has been named to the State Board of Emergency Medical, Fire and Transportation Services.

The appointment by Governor Mike DeWine was announced Oct. 15, with Fishel’s term beginning that same day and running through Nov. 12, 2023.

“For me personally, being appointed by Governor DeWine to this board is an honor,” said Fishel, who has led Delaware County’s EMS Department since July 2019. “But, more importantly, I welcome the responsibility of representing Ohio’s county-based EMS services—of which there are many—and representing other third-service systems like ours at the State level. This will ensure that we play an active role in moving emergency medical services in Ohio forward in a positive direction.” More…

National Corn Board Confirms Delaware Countian As Director

The Corn Board recently confirmed Kelly Harsh of Ohio as its newest director. Kelly grows corn and soybeans on her family operation in Delaware.

Kelly will serve a one-year term on the Corn Board, a position that opened up when Dennis McNinch resigned his seat to spend more time with his family and on his farm.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time on the board, but the demands of the farm have forced me to focus my attention on it right now. I’ve served with Kelly and know she’ll be an outstanding addition to the board,” said McNinch. More…

Two Delaware Countians named as OSU Trustees; Board Hears That University Is On Solid Footing

Governor Mike DeWine has named two Delaware residents to seats on The Ohio State University Board of Trustees — one a reappointment and the other for the first time.

Michael Kiggin of Powell has been reappointed to the Board of Trustees for a term beginning May 14, 2021 and ending May 13, 2030.

Tomislav B. Mitevski of Galena has been appointed to the Board of Trustees for a term beginning May 21, 2021 and ending May 13, 2030.

The Ohio State University is governed by a board of 17 governor-appointed trustees who are responsible for oversight of academic programs, budgets and general administration, and employment of faculty and staff. More…

The Delaware County Board of Commissioners is currently seeking to appoint one (1) member to the Delaware-Morrow Mental Health & Recovery Services Board. The term of the appointed board member would begin on July 1, 2021 and expire June 30, 2025. This Board consists of fourteen (14) members, each of whom serves a four (4) year term. OWU Names Alum As New Director Of Human Resources

Ohio Wesleyan University has appointed Imogene Gregory Johnson as OWU’s Director of Human Resources. A 1980 Ohio Wesleyan graduate, Johnson has more than 20 years of experience in HR management.

Johnson will begin her new role June 1, and will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing programs to attract, develop, retain, and advance talented administrative and support staff. She also will collaborate with members of the university’s Council for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to catalyze Ohio Wesleyan’s efforts to advance goals related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism. Bechtold Named Westerville Assistant City Manager

Westerville City Manager Monica Irelan has appointed Jason Bechtold as Assistant City Manager. Bechtold will transition from his position as Westerville’s Economic Development Director on Monday, March 8.

Bechtold replaces Julie Colley, who announced her retirement last year, leaving her role in late January. Bechtold was hired by Colley in 2009, and has managed economic development for the community for 11 years.

“Jason has strong relationships in the development community and a clear vision for a future Westerville,” said Irelan. “We complement each other in work style, and his experience in Westerville and around the Columbus region are advantages for attracting and retaining jobs and protecting property values. County Recorder Appointed Chair Of Statewide Committee

The Ohio Recorders Association (ORA) held their annual Winter Conference in Columbus Nov. 16-18, which includes swearing in their executive committee for the upcoming year. The Executive Committee and incoming ORA President Ann Block appoint chairpersons to the ORA Committees.

The Ohio Recorder’s Association’s Executive Committee has appointed Melissa Jordan, Delaware County Recorder, as Chairwoman of the Continuing Education Committee for the calendar year 2021.

“This vital committee is tasked with providing continuing education opportunities to the 88 County Recorders of the State so that they can fulfill their statutory obligation to acquire the required CE credit hours for each year of their term,” said Ann Block, 2020-21 ORA President and Monroe County Recorder. Delaware Countian Reappointed To Ohio Expositions Commission

It was recently announced by the State of Ohio that John R. Page of Lewis Center has been reappointed to the Ohio Expositions Commission for a term beginning January 8, 2021, and ending December 1, 2026.

Page has served as general manager of the SMG-managed Greater Columbus Convention Center, and in 2018 was selected by his peers for his leadership and civic contributions by being included in the Most Admired Chief Operating Officers by Columbus Business First.

The Ohio Expositions Commission itself was established in 1961 when the Ohio General Assembly passed legislation creating a new governing body for the Ohio Expo Center. Prior to 1961, the State Board of Agriculture oversaw the Center. The Commission maintains and manages state property reserved for the purpose of conducting at least one Fair annually. More…

Scott Borgemenke of Dublin has been appointed to the Ohio University Board of Trustees for a term beginning January 1, 2021 and ending May 13, 2027.

Benjamin W. Fields of Powell has been reappointed to the State Board of Psychology for a term beginning December 11, 2020 and ending October 4, 2025.

Since 1972, the Ohio Board of Psychology has been providing protections to the public through examinations, licensing, education, and investigating complaints and maintaining accountability among Ohio’s psychologists, school psychologists licensed for private practice, supervised providers, and applicants for licensure. Jo Hannah Ward of Delaware has been appointed to the Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities Council for a term beginning October 26, 2020, and ending June 1, 2022.

Adam C. Shank of Powell has been appointed to the Ohio Arts Council for a term beginning October 26, 2020, and ending July 1, 2024.

Janet E. Foley Orosz of Powell has been reappointed to the Ohio Fair Plan Underwriting Association Board of Governors for a term beginning October 26, 2020, and ending Sept. 18, 2022.

Commissioners Seeking Applicants For Public Defender Commission

The Delaware County Board of Commissioners is currently seeking to appoint three members to the Delaware County Public Defender Commission. The Public Defender Commission consists of five (5) members, three who are appointed by the Board of Commissioners and two by the presiding judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Delaware County. At least one member appointed by each of these appointing bodies shall be an attorney admitted to the practice of law in the state of Ohio.

The Board of Commissioners seeks to appoint three members, all of whom will fill terms that commence Oct. 1, 2020. Two of the members’ terms will end Oct. 1, 2022, and one member’s term will end Oct. 1, 2024. More…
