SAFE Reminds Parents To Keep Kids Safe And Out Of Hot Cars

In 2018, 52 children died in hot cars, making it the deadliest year on record in the last 20 years. As warmer weather fast approaches, Safe Kids Worldwide and the Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine (AAAM) are joining together to raise awareness about the importance of child reminder technology and the need for increased public education around the dangers of leaving children in hot cars.

“Close to 800 children have died in hot cars over the last 20 years, and each of those deaths was preventable,” said SAFE Delaware County Coordinator Jackie Bain. “We all have a role to play in preventing vehicular heatstroke in children. If you see a child alone in a car, take action and save their life.” More…

Teen Driver Safety Week Highlights Serious Issue

The week of October 21-27 is designated as National Teen Driver Safety Week and members of the SAFE Teen Driver Safety Task Force are using the week to bring awareness to an increasingly tragic subject.

“Teens are more likely than older drivers to underestimate dangerous situations or not be able to recognize hazardous situations,” said Jackie Bain, SAFE coordinator and community health specialist for the Delaware General Health District. More…
