Ohio State Moves Forward On Powell Outpatient Care Center Project

The Ohio State University is seeking Board of Trustees approval for $7.4 million in design and pre-construction services with an architectural firm for its new Wexner Medical Center Outpatient Care Powell, scheduled to open in the Summer/Fall of 2025 in the city of Powell. A request for proposals will be released for preconstruction services with a Construction Manager.

If approved, the Powell location will join New Albany and Dublin as the third suburban facility to expand the reach of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. The size and cost of Outpatient Care Powell has not yet been determined, but the interior and exterior designs will be consistent with the New Albany and Dublin buildings.

The $133.9M .9 million, 251,000-square-foot Outpatient Care New Albany opened in the summer of 2021, and the $161.2 million, 272,000-square-foot Outpatient Care Dublin is slated to open this summer. More…

Headliners Announced For 2022 Powell Festival

The countdown is on to this year’s Powell Festival, the city’s lead event that comes during the first full month of summer.

For the 25th anniversary edition this year, there is more of everything you loved about previous year’s festivals – great entertainment, delicious food trucks, activities for kids, dazzling fireworks, and more.

The McClurg Properties Stage will feature two national headliners – Ryan Cabrera and The Spin Doctors – plus Josh Rizzo and Soul Punch. Sol from WNCI 97.9 will join us as emcee and host.

This year’s sponsors include McClurg Properties, Newman Roofing, LLC , @_EvolveHealth, Giant Eagle , Pedego Electric Bikes Powell, and Master Kim’s MegaKick Martial Arts.

The fun takes place from 5 to 11 PM on Friday, June 24 and from 10 AM to 11 PM on Saturday, June 25 in Village Green Park.

The Best Of Food And Drink: Experience The Taste Of Powell Tour

Powell is being showcased on July 18 via the Taste of Powell Tour, hosted by the Powell Chamber of Commerce. Experience great breweries, restaurants, and other attractions in Powell and Liberty Township from 10 AM to 8 PM.

Popular Pizza Restaurant Opening In Powell

It started in 1972, the chain’s website proclaims, when a small coney shop in Carroll, Ohio was converted into the first Pizza Cottage.

Now, there are six locations in central Ohio. Soon, there will be a location in southern Delaware County, just the second in the inner ring suburbs of Columbus.

Pizza Cottage is slated to open later this month at 8753 Owenfield Drive in Powell. The new restaurant is located off of US23, north of Powell Road, and next to Roosters Men’s Grooming Center. More…

Holiday Music From Powell

The Delaware County-based Central Ohio Symphony’s Brass Quintet and the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Powell collaborated on a pre-recorded concert for Saturday’s annual “Holidays in Powell” Tree Lighting Ceremony.

The concert featured the Village Brass Quintet playing music of the holidays, and was streamed live on the City’s Facebook page and website.

Powell Company Awarded State Tax Credit

The Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) recently announced approval of assistance for 15 projects across the State of Ohio. Projects approved are set to create 1,653 new jobs and to retain 1,676 jobs.

A Delaware County company was among those receiving an award.

The TCA reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners. Collectively, the projects are expected to result in more than $99 million in new payroll and to spur more than $304 million in investments across Ohio. More…

Porch Parade Starts Friday Night In Powell And Liberty Township

The Liberty Township Fire Department, Powell Police Department, Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and Olentangy Local School District are hosting a Porch Parade from 6 to 8 PM on Friday, May 1; noon to 2 PM on Saturday, May 2; and 3 to 5 PM on Sunday, May 3. The parade will feature a fire truck, ambulance, school bus and police cruisers.

Residents are encouraged to wave American flags inside or outside of their homes, decorate their sidewalks or driveways with chalk and to practice good social distancing. More…
