SourcePoint Grant Process Begins Next Month

Applications will soon be available for the 2021 funding of community programs that serve Delaware County residents ages 55 and older.

SourcePoint annually awards funding to local service organizations to help address the diverse needs of the county’s older population.

The 2021 grant application process begins with a mandatory applicant conference on Thursday, June 11. Any organization interested in applying for funding should contact Jackie Haight at jhaight@MySourcePoint.org or 740-203-2435 prior to the conference, which will be virtual this year. More…

Amid COVID-19, SourcePoint Connects Older Adults, Services, Resources

SourcePoint has available resources and support for Delaware County residents ages 55 and older throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

SourcePoint is available to assist older adults who may not have access to food and other vital in-home care services as they self-isolate due to Ohio’s current Stay-at-Home Order. Older adults and/or their families are encouraged to call SourcePoint at 740-363-6677 for assistance, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Information and referral specialists will screen calls and link older adults with the appropriate resources. Box Lunch Sales Support Meals On Wheels

SourcePoint invites Delaware County businesses and organizations to support Meals on Wheels with the purchase of boxed lunches. The sixth annual Boxed Lunch Fundraiser provides a lunch for $11, with more than half the proceeds going directly to SourcePoint’s Meals on Wheels program.

Each year, SourcePoint serves about 250,000 meals to Delaware County seniors, and donations to the program help support the growing older population. More…

SourcePoint received a gift from a private donor in 2019 for the purchase and branding of a new van. The van is part of an ongoing initiative to increase access to SourcePoint’s professional expertise, resources, and programs. Scholarship Fund Named After Past SourcePoint Employee, Volunteer

SourcePoint’s enrichment center scholarship fund has been named the Edie Balser Scholarship Fund. Edith “Edie” Balser was dedicated to Delaware County seniors and began working at the Park Avenue Senior Citizens Center in 1992, prior to its transition to SourcePoint. She also volunteered for more than 50 years at OhioHealth Grady Memorial Hospital. Balser passed away in August of this year. More…

Grant Fuels Lifelong Learning Institute

In July, SourcePoint awarded a $10,000 grant to the Lifelong Learning Institute of Ohio Wesleyan University. The funds helped support the institute’s start-up costs, including the hiring of a part-time director, promotion, printing of course materials, and fall term evaluation.

The Lifelong Learning Institute is modeled after similar programs at campuses across the country. Volunteers teach courses in a relaxed, peer-centered environment. Topics are designed to appeal to those ages 55 and older. More…
