Thursday’s release of information from the Ohio Department of Health included the weekly look at reported statistics from Ohio’s public and private schools.

For Delaware County, these numbers saw a rather dramatic decrease from 105 new cases reported on November 28 to 40 this week

These 40 cases involve 28 students and 12 staff members. It is unknown how the return of remote learning with some county schools impacted these numbers.

The following schools reported cases this week:

Big Walnut – 1 student, 1 staff

Buckeye Valley – 3 students

DACC – 7 students

Delaware City – 8 students, 4 staff

Olentangy – 5 students, 7 staff

St. Paul – 4 students

A number of Westerville Schools students attend school in Delaware County, although that district’s numbers are reported through Franklin County. Westerville Schools reported new cases for 16 students and 10 staff this week.

According to the Department of Health, “A report of COVID-19 should not be interpreted as an indicator that a school district or school isn’t following proper procedures—school cases can be a reflection of the overall situation in the broader community. Families and staff should always feel free to ask questions of the school district or school.”
