While the number of employed Ohioans remains lower than it was a year ago, the unemployment rate remains relatively constant both statewide and for Richland County.

The unemployment rate for Ohio stood at 5.7% for November, down from a revised 6.1% in October.

Non-agricultural wage and salary employment increased by 29,400, while the number of unemployed individuals in Ohio was 32,000 lower than the previous month. That shared, the number of unemployed is 87,000 higher than it was in November 2019.

Among the state’s 88 counties, preliminary November 2020 unemployment rates ranged from a low of 2.4% in Holmes County to a high of 7.3% in Noble County. From October, unemployment rates decreased in 68 counties, increased in 14 counties, and remained the same in six counties.

The national unemployment rate for November was 6.7%, down from 6.9% in October, and up from 3.5% a year ago.

Sectors with employment increases in November included leisure and hospitality, educational services, construction, and financial activities. Those with net losses included manufacturing and information.

Delaware County’s November rate, not-seasonably adjusted, was 3.6%. Out of a total labor force of 108,300, 104,400 were employed.

  • Franklin 5.4%
  • Knox 3.8%
  • Licking 4.2%
  • Marion 5.2%
  • Morrow 4.5%
  • Union 3.5%
