In an announcement shared on its website and Facebook Page, organizers of the Delaware Arts Festival shared disappointing but expected news.

A message from Mark Hardymon, President of the Delaware Arts Festival Association, said:

“We are sad to report that the 47th Delaware Arts Festival has been cancelled.

With the mid May date, we were up against an organizational timeline which necessitated the decision to cancel at this time. We would like to thank all our artists who submitted entries for this year’s festival for their optimism and support. The Board of Directors has decided that all non-refundable jury fees received to date will be applied toward the 2022 festival.

Our Board of Directors remain enthusiastic and look forward to next year’s event. The date for next year is May 14th and 15th, 2022 and with your continued support and participation, we look forward to a fantastic 2022 Delaware Arts Festival.”

This was the second year in a row that this popular annual event, held along the streets of downtown Delaware, has been canceled in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
