This year we’re continuing our weekly look at unique events and attractions that are within an easy driving distance of Delaware County. We call these “Summer Road Trips.” Of course, we regularly feature the many extraordinary places to visit right here in Delaware County and encourage our readers to get out and experience what is on offer in our own backyard.

This summer, it is possible to travel the short distance to Columbus and to experience the world in a most unique way.

Franklin Park Conservancy and Botanical Gardens will take you there via an exhibition entitled “Sister Cities: Horticultural Sites, Events, and Developments.”

There, you can visit displays from Columbus’ ten sister cities, from Accra, Ghana to Taiwan City, Taiwan. Each city has its own unique culture, environment, and plant life, but in all of them, gardens and other types of green spaces enhance quality of life.

Each location has a display which talks about local botanical sites, advancements in horticulture, and floriculture events.

Columbus’ sister cities include Accra, Ghana; Ahmedabad, India; Curitiba, Brazil; Dresden, Germany; Genoa, Italy; Hefei, China; Herzliya, Israel; Odense, Denmark; Seville, Spain; and Tainan City, Taiwan.

The event will last through the end of October.

Online reservations can be made here. Franklin Park Conservancy and Botanical Gardens is located at 1777 East Broad Street.
