ODOT District 6 has released its weekly report highlighting road construction projects which are beginning or underway in the multi-county area it serves. What follows are posted projects taking place within Delaware County and Franklin County.

Please stay safe and pay attention to these closures and work taking place during the week beginning on September 5.

DELAWARE COUNTY

State Route 521

NEW IMPACTS

SR 521 at Carters Corner Rd. will close starting Tuesday, September 7 through Friday, September 17 for culvert replacement. Detour: U.S. 36 to SR 61 to SR 521 or reverse.

Interstate 71

NEW IMPACTS

I-71 southbound between Bale Kenyon Rd. and E. Powell Rd. will have daily lane restrictions (9 a.m. – 3 p.m.) starting Wednesday, September 8 through Friday, September 10 for drainage repairs.

U.S. Route 36

CONTINUING IMPACTS
U.S. 36 Intersection Safety Improvement – The intersection of U.S. 36 and SR 257 will have daily lane restrictions (7 a.m. – 5 p.m.) starting Monday, August 2 through October 2021 for traffic signal installation. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers.


FRANKLIN COUNTY

NEW IMPACTS

Olentangy River Rd. between Highland Drive and Henderson Rd. will have daily lane restrictions (9 a.m. – 3 p.m.) starting Tuesday, September 7 through Friday, September 10 for utility work.

Interstate 270

NEW IMPACTS

  • The I-270 northbound ramp to I-70 eastbound on the west side will close overnight (8 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Tuesday, September 7.
    • Detour: I-270 northbound to I-70 westbound to Hilliard-Rome Rd. to I-70 eastbound.
  • The I-270 southbound ramp to I-70 eastbound on the west side will close overnight (8 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Tuesday, September 7.
    • Detour: I-70 westbound to Hilliard-Rome Rd. to I-70 eastbound.

NEW IMPACTS

  • I-270 eastbound and westbound between Riverside Dr. and Smoky Row Rd. will have nightly lane restrictions (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Tuesday, September 7 through Friday, September 10 for paving.
  • The Sawmill Rd. northbound and southbound ramps to I-270 eastbound will close overnight (10 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Tuesday, September 7.
    • Detour: Sawmill Rd. to I-270 westbound to Tuttle Crossing Blvd. to I-270 eastbound.

Interstate 670

NEW IMPACTS

  • The 5th Ave. ramp to I-71 southbound will close nightly (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Tuesday, September 7 through Friday, September 10.
    • Detour: I-71 southbound to Main St. to I-71 northbound to I-670.
  • The I-71 southbound ramp to Spring St. will close nightly (10 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Tuesday, September 7 through Friday, September 10.
    • Detour: I-71 southbound to Main St. to Washington Ave. to Spring St.
  • The Convention Center Drive ramp to I-670 eastbound will close nightly (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Tuesday, September 7 through Friday, September 10.
    • Detour: Goodale St. eastbound to 4th St. northbound to 5th Ave. eastbound to I-670.
  • The 4th St./U.S. 23 ramp to I-670 eastbound will close nightly (8 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Tuesday, September 7 through Friday, September 10.
    • Detour: 4th St. northbound to 5th Ave. eastbound to I-670.
  • The I-71 southbound ramp to I-670 eastbound will close overnight (10 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Wednesday, September 8.
    • Detour: I-670 westbound to SR 315 southbound to I-70 eastbound to I-71 northbound to I-670.
  • The Spring St. ramp to I-670 eastbound will close overnight (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Thursday, September 9.
    • Detour: I-71 northbound to 11th Ave. to I-71 southbound to I-670 eastbound.
  • The Cleveland Ave./SR 3 ramp to I-670 eastbound will close overnight (10 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Thursday, September 9.
    • Detour: Cleveland Ave. southbound to Long St. eastbound to I-71 northbound/I-670 eastbound.
  • The I-71 northbound ramp to I-670 eastbound will close overnight (10 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on Thursday, September 9.
    • Detour: Hamilton/Leonard Ave. to St. Clair Ave. northbound to 5th Ave. westbound to I-71 southbound/I-670.
  • I-670 eastbound between 3rd St. and I-71 will have nightly lane restrictions (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Tuesday, September 7 through Friday, September 10.
  • I-71 southbound between 5th Ave. and Broad St. will have nightly lane restrictions (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Tuesday, September 7 through Friday, September 10.

70/I71 DOWNTOWN RAMPUP

Interstates 70/71 Reconstruction – I-70/71 will experience lane restrictions through downtown Columbus to widen and reconstruct the roadway, replace bridges over the interstate, rebuild ramps, and construct new urban avenues parallel to the interstate. Various downtown ramps will permanently close. Estimated completion: Oct. 2023

CONTINUING IMPACTS

  • Fulton St. between 4th St. and 3rd St. has lane restrictions through Fall 2021.
  • The Broad St. ramp to I-71 southbound closed in July 2020 until Summer 2022.
  • Broad Street is reduced to two lanes westbound and one lane eastbound on the bridge over Interstate 71. Traffic is shifted to the new south half of the bridge so crews can demolish and rebuild the north half. This traffic pattern on Broad St. will remain in effect until Summer 2022.
  • Parsons Avenue between Main St. and Children’s Drive will be reduced to one lane in each direction through Fall 2021, weather permitting.
