Later this month you have the opportunity to explore the Ohio to Erie Trail in this part of Ohio. Trailpalooza is an all day celebration on Saturday, June 25 with special stops and events this section of the Ohio to Erie Trail that extends from the Ohio River in Cincinnati to Lake Erie in Cleveland.
Hop on the trail anywhere in Delaware County and ride in either direction and travel as far as you would like.
This year’s highlight celebrates the new trail head completed by Knox and Licking counties, just north of Delaware’s county line, as a new tri-county connection.
Delaware County events will include the following:
GENOA TOWNSHIP – 10 AM. Join Genoa Township at the new Gateway Park trailhead along the Ohio to Erie Trail (on the southeast corner of Rt. 3 and Mt. Royal).
WESTERVILLE – 10 AM to 2 PM at Hanby Park, 115 E. Park St., Westerville. Trailapalooza participants are welcome to join in the Farmers Market in Uptown Westerville. There will be energy packs, a clip on flashing light giveaway, and helmet fittings.
SUNBURY – Bikepacking Class at the Sunbury Depot, presented by Public Lands. Cycling experts will share all the details and information necessary to plan a successful bike packing adventure! This 45-minute presentation will cover all aspects of bike packing, from pre-trip planning, to the necessary equipment and nutritional considerations to make, for the most enjoyable bike packing experience. A fully packed bike will be on hand to review, with plenty of time for Q&A with our experts after the presentation.
Also – Movie at dusk featuring Breaking Away (Rated PG) working-class Indiana teen obsessed with the Italian cycling team vies for the affections of a college girl while searching for life goals with his friends. Breaking Away won the 1979 Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay
Additional events will be held in Westerville, Centerburg, and Mount Vernon.
