There are two opportunities to begin your 2019 with hikes through nature in Delaware County.

A “New Year’s Day Hike” will start things off at 10 AM on Tuesday. This is the a healthy hike led by Preservation Parks’ volunteer Len Fisher through the woods and prairies of Deer Haven Park and Havener Park. Afterward, put up your feet a bit and warm up with a hot beverage and cookies by the fireplace in the visitors center.

There is no charge for this hike, and all ages are welcome. The fun takes place at Deer Haven Park, 4183 Liberty Road in Delaware.[widgets_on_pages id=1]

On Friday, things turn a bit “darker” – but in a friendly kind of way.

The Owl Prowl showcases animals that are designed perfectly for the night, but what makes them unique? Join a naturalist on a night hike as you will call for owls and learn how they survive in the darkness.

This hike is also free but is designed for ages 7 and older. It will begin at 6:30 PM at Emily Traphagen Park, 5094 Seldom Seen Road in Powell.
