Martiny’s BBQ, a family-owned barbeque establishment that originated as a food truck during the COVID-19 pandemic, has now opened its first physical location in central Ohio.

The new restaurant is situated at 5808 Columbus Pike in Lewis Center, where it took over the space previously occupied by the Venezuelan eatery The Porch, which closed its doors in September 2022. The location is between Motorcycle Maxx and A-1 Trailer and Hitch.

Well-known for their delectable mac and cheese bowls and smoked potato bowls, Martiny’s BBQ offers patrons a choice of chopped brisket, pulled pork, or cauliflower burnt ends as toppings. The menu also features an assortment of smoked meats by the pound, including options like sliced brisket, pulled pork, chicken, and rack ribs.

Customers can enjoy their smoked meat selection in a box order accompanied by a choice of two sides, or opt for a double serving of one side. The side options include coleslaw, pinto beans, German potato salad, and baked beans. Operating hours for Martiny’s BBQ are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Wednesday through Sunday, and the full menu can be viewed online here.

Martiny’s BBQ emphasizes carryout with few dining tables and chairs, with the primary focus on catering to pick-up orders. Owner Michael Martiny believes that the future lies in convenient carryout options, stating, “People want to get in and out with their barbecue, and that’s what we’re going to give them.”

In addition to their mouthwatering dishes, the restaurant also offers three signature sauces for customers to enjoy: their signature BBQ sauce, white BBQ sauce, and Beaufort Gold sauce.

It’s already proving popular. Last week, Google contributor David Baas shared, “Great food, I can’t wait to bring my family and friends here! The owners were so friendly and excited about their first day in operation. Visit this locally owned and operated restaurant.” in his five star review.
