From the Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office

A Delaware County jury has found 44-year-old Timothy Baldrick, of Columbus, guilty of Aggravated Murder for killing 37-year-old Timothy “Scottie” Marcum.

On June 28, 2021, a kayaker on Alum Creek found Marcum’s deceased body in a plastic tote floating in the water. The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office investigated Marcum’s death that was determined to be a homicide, ultimately recovering a video recording of the callous murder showing Baldrick shooting Marcum.

“Scottie Marcum was killed in cold-blood. We are thankful the jury found Baldrick guilty for exactly what he did and returned verdicts of guilty on all charges.” Delaware County Prosecutor Melissa Schiffel said. “We are honored to fight for justice for Mr. Marcum. He was a son and a father, and his life mattered.”

After a three and a half day trial, jurors returned verdicts of guilty on all charges this afternoon. Baldrick was found guilty of aggravated murder with a firearm specification and murder with a firearm specification-both unclassified felonies; two counts of tampering with evidence, both felonies of the third degree; and, abuse of a corpse-a felony of the fifth degree.

A sentencing hearing for Timothy Baldrick is set for Tuesday, April 18 at 11:00 AM. He faces a possible maximum prison sentence of life without parole for the Aggravated Murder charge.
