In a post on social media and on its website, the Delaware Public Health District has announced that as of Tuesday, May 16, its long-time Downtown Delaware office on West Winter Street will be permanently closed.

This closure is due to the imminent opening of the District’s new building on South Sandusky Street.

In the interim, patrons are asked to visit the Sunbury Office at 137 State Route 3 in the Kroger Shopping Plaza. Hours are 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM. WIC services are available at Andrews House on West Winter Street just one block from Sandusky Street.

The health district is moving to a new location in response to the challenges posed by the county’s population growth, which has necessitated an expansion of the district’s services.

This new facility will span a significant 30,000 square feet. It will be accompanied by a 200-space parking lot and utilize six acres known as 470 South Sandusky and an additional three acres along Magnolia Drive. The construction of the facility is expected to significantly enhance the district’s ability to serve the community.
