Special to 1808Delaware from Preservation Parks

A refreshed website for Preservation Parks of Delaware County was uniquely designed with park visitors in mind. The mobile responsive site launched early last week with new features to quickly help visitors find what they need.

Visitors will have a more enjoyable web experience with more intuitive navigation, enabling the user accessibility features, viewing specific park alerts, and enjoy greater video capability. The site can still be found at its regular address, https://preservationparks.com.

A short video on the site’s main page will welcome visitors with stunning views and engaging activities from around the park district. The new menu allows for intuitive navigation of the site by allowing users to find a program or event through multiple navigation choices.

“The new site allows users to easily navigate to a park, program, or event in various ways. Our program registration software is integrated in the site which makes access to program registration easy,” said Rich Niccum, deputy director of Preservation Parks.

Just as visitors explore the parks, so will website visitors explore the website through the new “EXPLORE” navigation option. Here, website visitors can explore the About, Get Involved, Programs & Events, and the new Choose Park Amenity and Resources sub-categories.

At the “Choose Park Amenity” option, visitors can choose what they want to do in the parks and the site will respond with the parks where that amenity is available. At the “Resources” option, users will have tree and bench dedication, a donation and permits option, park rules and regulations and sustainability information at their fingertips.

Users will find the new park pages make park exploration easier with mobile responsiveness that will provide an easy view of park maps, amenities and general information. Additionally, alerts on the specific park page will make visitors aware of trail closures and park announcements.

The site is easy to read and navigate with the UserWay accessibility tool that provides a screen reader, bigger text, dyslexia friendly fonts, and language translation.

“The site is a great place for users to get to know Preservation Parks before they even step foot in one of our parks. Users can find amenities they didn’t know existed within our park district, learn about park initiatives, or even be connected to the Preservation Parks Foundation,” said Mary VanHaaften, executive director of Preservation Parks.

The new site was designed by 40 Degrees Media in Delaware.
