Adjusted Office Hours and Service Schedules

As the festive season approaches, the City of Delaware is implementing special hours and refuse collection schedules to accommodate the holiday period. City offices will close at noon on Friday, December 22, and remain closed on Monday, December 25. This adjustment is in line with the observance of Christmas and aims to provide city employees with the opportunity to spend time with their families during this festive period.

The closure of the city offices also impacts the refuse collection schedule. There will be an accelerated refuse collection on Friday, December 22, ensuring that all residents have their refuse collected before the holiday. However, there will be no refuse collection on Monday, December 25.

Special Refuse Collection Post-Christmas

Recognizing the increase in waste typically generated during the holiday season, the City of Delaware has made special arrangements for refuse collection from December 26 to December 30. Residents can place additional non-tagged bags of holiday refuse outside of their tipcarts for curbside collection. This provision is designed to ease the burden of holiday waste disposal for residents, ensuring a cleaner and more enjoyable holiday environment.

New Year’s Schedule and Services

Similarly, for the New Year’s holiday, the City of Delaware offices will be closed on Monday, January 1. Refuse collection will not take place on January 1 but will resume on a “Next Day” schedule from Tuesday, January 2 through Saturday, January 6. This schedule adjustment allows residents to have their refuse collected in a timely manner following the New Year celebrations.

Assistance and Inquiries

For any questions or clarifications regarding curbside collection, residents are encouraged to contact the city at 740-203-1810 or via email at [email protected].
