In a move that’s set to spice up the Ohio dining scene, the renowned Brazilian steakhouse chain, Fogo de Chão, has announced plans to open its first location in the Buckeye State. Located at 1425 Polaris Pkwy, the upcoming restaurant promises an authentic Southern Brazilian dining experience, drawing from decades of rich culinary tradition. This development marks a significant milestone for the global dining entity, known for its mastery of the traditional churrasco grilling technique.

A Legacy of Flavor

The Fogo de Chão story began on a Southern Brazilian farm in Serra Gaucha, where a family perfected the art of churrasco, dreaming of sharing their culinary heritage with the world. Their ambition led to the opening of the first Fogo de Chão in Brazil in 1979, setting the stage for an international expansion that would reach Dallas, TX, in 1997, and eventually span across the globe to locales including Dubai and Mexico City.

The chain’s impressive growth trajectory was highlighted by the opening of a flagship three-story, 16,000-square-foot location in New York City just before Christmas 2013. This architectural marvel features a seventeen-foot bas-relief sculpture of Antonio Caringi’s O Laçador, paying homage to a historical monument in Porto Alegre, Brazil, and showcasing the deep cultural roots of the Fogo de Chão brand.

Culinary Delights and Ambitious Plans

The forthcoming Polaris location is set to occupy the premises formerly home to O’Charley’s, with a complete remodel costing approximately $1.5 million. Fogo de Chão’s expansive menu is a carnivore’s delight, offering 11 different cuts of steak, a variety of chicken and pork options, raw seafood towers, specialty salads, and Brazilian-inspired sides. Signature offerings include warm pão de queijo, farofa, and an all-you-can-eat selection of cold sides and vegetables, ensuring a dining experience that’s as indulgent as it is authentic.

Guests can look forward to savoring cuts of steak ranging from porterhouse to ribeye, alongside other delicacies like smoked salmon, Chilean sea bass, and shrimp cocktail. The dining experience is complemented by a range of sides such as garlic mashed potatoes and caramelized bananas, with delectable desserts like molten chocolate cake and tres leches cake providing a sweet finale. The full menu can be seen here.

The exact opening date has not yet been announced.

What This Means for Ohio

The arrival of Fogo de Chão in Polaris is more than just the introduction of a new dining option; it represents a vibrant addition to the local culinary landscape, offering residents and visitors alike the chance to immerse themselves in the flavors and traditions of Southern Brazil. As the first Ohio outpost of this global phenomenon, the Polaris location is poised to become a destination for food enthusiasts seeking an authentic churrasco experience.
