Special to 1808Delaware

OhioHealth Grady Memorial Hospital was one of several organizations in the Delaware community that participated in Leadership Delaware County Healthcare Day, an event put on by the Delaware Area Chamber of Commerce.

According to the Delaware Area Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Delaware County is designed to identify, nurture, and promote future leaders in Delaware County. Participants engage in a nine-month program designed to increase their community leadership skills. During the leadership experience, participants are exposed to a variety of viewpoints in various areas illustrating the broad array of economic, political, educational, and social issues at all levels.

“This elite program has graduated nearly 1,000 community leaders since 1992. Over the course of the program many local organizations partner both by participating in the program and by acting as presenters, Holly Quaine, Delaware Area Chamber of Commerce president said, “OhioHealth has for many years served as a facility host and session presenter, educating Leadership participants on health care in Delaware County. They join Ohio Sate Wexner Medical Center in planning and facilitating Health Care Day. The Chamber is grateful to the many community members who share their experiences and make Leadership Delaware the successful program that it is.”

This year’s class included 74 leaders and was open to community members who live and or work in Delaware County.

“Collaborating with other leaders and organizations within the community of Delaware is substantial to providing the best care for our community in all areas of life and services,” Cherie Smith, president of OhioHealth Grady Memorial Hospital and OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital said, “It’s a chance for us leaders to get together, get to know one another on a personal level and to brainstorm ideas. As a healthcare organization, we are always open to evolving and learning what the true needs of our community are.”

“Leadership Delaware Healthcare Day is a wonderful opportunity for the community and the patients we serve to see, hear, and know what amazing care OhioHealth provides,” Jodie Wegmiller, director of nursing at Grady Memorial said, “This day highlights Grady Memorial, the exceptional clinical quality Grady gives to each patient and their families, and the outstanding experience you can have in a hospital right in your own neighborhood.   I am a 4th generation Delawarean, and my husband and I chose to raise our family here.  Delaware is very close to my heart, so it makes me very proud to know that we have such a wonderful resource in Grady Memorial and OhioHealth.”
