The Delaware County Historical Society (DCHS) is inviting the community to an Open House on Sunday, February 9, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at The Barn at Stratford, 2690 Stratford Rd., Delaware.
This special event is an opportunity for Delaware County residents to learn more about the upcoming America 250 Delaware County activities and discover the many ways DCHS is working to preserve and promote local history.
Highlighting America 250 in Delaware County
The open house will introduce attendees to the Delaware County America 250 Student Ambassador program, a collaboration between DCHS and local high schools. This initiative offers students a chance to deepen their understanding of the nation’s founding documents, with lessons taught by local educators. Students who successfully complete the program will receive a red, white, and blue honor cord at their 2026 graduation, marking their participation in this unique educational experience.
A Deep Dive into Local Historical Preservation
Visitors will have the chance to explore the broader efforts of DCHS in preserving Delaware County’s rich history. The organization oversees several historical sites, including:
- Nash House Museum – A restored 19th-century home showcasing life in early Delaware County.
- Meeker Homestead Museum – A glimpse into pioneer life in central Ohio.
- Millworker Cottage – A preserved 19th-century worker’s home.
- Delaware Historic Jail & Sheriff’s Residence – A historical look at law enforcement and incarceration in Delaware County.
Each of these sites offers exhibits and educational programming that bring history to life for residents of all ages.
