Next Wednesday morning, the gates will swing open for the 2025 Ohio State Fair, welcoming nearly a million visitors from all 88 counties to Columbus. Running through August 3, this beloved annual tradition is where deep-fried innovation meets down-home agriculture — a gathering spot for families, foodies, thrill-seekers, and music lovers alike.

From petting kangaroos to catching a live T-Pain performance at 8:00 PM, the fair’s range is unmatched. But while the zany snacks and spectacular shows steal the spotlight, at its core, the Ohio State Fair celebrates the state’s agricultural roots and timeless summertime rituals.

New Attractions in the Barnyard and Beyond

This year’s biggest debut is The Barnyard, a shaded escape that combines fan-favorite pig races with a bustling petting zoo—yes, the kangaroos are real and ready for a nose boop.

Also new to the fairgrounds:

  • Chainsaw carving demos creating wooden masterpieces on the fly
  • A free old-fashioned circus, complete with aerial acts
  • Axe throwing for $10
  • A 200-foot slingshot ride for the brave at $40
  • Two gift shops and a new north-side entry gate
  • Eight bottle-filling stations to keep fairgoers hydrated

Fairground Beats: From Classic Rock to Taylor Swift Tributes

The Celeste Center and fairground stages will keep the music rolling with a mix of ticketed and free performances. Highlights include:

  • Foreigner delivering rock anthems
  • T-Pain bringing his chart-toppers and Auto-Tune charisma
  • A free Taylor Swift tribute show
Check the fair’s entertainment schedule and grab tickets in advance for the best seats under the lights.

Flavor Explosion: Viral Foods Take Center Stage

If last year was the age of pickle pizza and cotton candy burritos, 2025 brings in the era of bold, curious mashups. Among the head-turners:

  • Smashadilla: Where a smashburger and quesadilla fall deliciously in love
  • Buckeye Lemonade: A lemonade with creamy peanut butter and chocolate (we’re as confused as you are)
  • BluRaz Crunch Funnel Cake: A blue raspberry cookie‑topped carnival classic
  • Caramel Apple Cream Puff: Schmidt’s latest seasonal masterpiece
  • Mac n’ D: Doritos layered with mac and cheese, fried chicken, and Yum Yum sauce
  • Moonshine Chicken on a Stick: Drizzled in a sweet and savory homemade glaze
  • Dubai Chocolate Funnel Cake: The pistachio crème‑topped viral sensation goes crispy
