Fire-grilled steaks and Western flair could soon be coming to Delaware, as LongHorn Steakhouse moves forward with plans to open its first location in Delaware County.

A New Addition to Coughlin Crossing

The national steakhouse chain has submitted a final development plan to the City of Delaware for a new restaurant at Coughlin Crossing, located near U.S. Route 23 and Coughlin Lane. The proposal covers a 2.355-acre site and outlines a 5,710-square-foot restaurant built under LongHorn’s LH9.3 prototype. Architectural elevations and a full landscaping plan were included in the filing.

The restaurant will be positioned east of U.S. 23, between Bojangles and Chesrown Chevrolet, with customer access available only from Coughlin Lane. The project falls within the Coughlin’s Crossing Planned Mixed-Use Overlay District.

Design and Details

The design reflects LongHorn’s signature Western lodge style, combining rustic materials and warm tones. According to the city submittal, the exterior will feature Coronado Old Country ledgestone, corten metal roof panels with a weathered finish, and PAC-CLAD mansard brown coping. The wood elements will use Olympic 708 Walnut stain, complemented by a paint palette that includes Benjamin Moore’s Hasbrouck Brown, Brookline Beige, and Pennies From Heaven.

The site plan includes a mix of Shumard Oak and Espresso Kentucky Coffeetree, with shrubs such as Tiny Wine Ninebark and Emerald Green Arborvitae adding texture around the building. Lighting and landscaped buffers will meet Coughlin Crossing’s design standards.

City Review and Next Steps

The Delaware Planning Commission has already reviewed and approved the project. The Delaware City Council will take up the proposal for final approval at 7:15 PM on October 27 under Resolution 25-76. If the measure passes, construction could begin in late 2025 or early 2026.

A Growing Dining Hub

Founded in Atlanta in 1981 and now part of Darden Restaurants, LongHorn Steakhouse operates six other Central Ohio locations. Its arrival in Delaware would mark another milestone for Coughlin Crossing, which continues to grow as a retail and dining destination along U.S. 23.
