Summer is when the most amount of work is undertaken on the region’s roadways. Below is information from the Ohio Department of Transportation for improvement and construction projects for Delaware and Franklin Counties during the coming week. As always, work is weather dependent.

DELAWARE
The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Delaware County. All outlined work is weather permitting. New Impacts
SR 521/Blue Church Road Culvert Replacement
- Blue Church Road north of SR 521 will close starting Monday, August 31 through Friday, September 4.
- Detour: Blue Church Rd. to Kilbourne Rd. to SR 521 or reverse.
Continuing Impacts
- SR 229 between U.S. 23 and the Village of Ashley will have various daytime lane restrictions (7 a.m. – 7 p.m.) starting Monday, May 11 through Fall 2026.
I-71/U.S. 36/SR 37 Sunbury Parkway
- The I-71 northbound ramp to U.S. 36/SR 37 will be reduced to one lane starting Wednesday, April 8 through Fall 2026.
- U.S 23 northbound between Hills Miller Rd and SR 229 will be reduced to one lane daily (7 p.m. – 3 p.m.) starting Monday, August 10th through Fall 2026
- U.S 23 southbound between Hills Miller Rd and SR 229 will be reduced to one lane daily (7 p.m. – 3 p.m.) starting Monday, August 10th through Fall 2026

I-270/I-71 Interchange Improvements
- The I-71 northbound ramp to I-270 westbound on the north side will close overnight (11 p.m. – 5 a.m.) Wednesday, September 2
- Detour: I-71 northbound to I-270 eastbound to Cleveland Ave. to I-270 westbound.
- The I-270 westbound ramp to I-71 southbound on the north side will close overnight (11 p.m. – 5 a.m.) Wednesday, September 2.
- Detour: I-71 northbound to Polaris Parkway to I-71 southbound.
- The I-270 eastbound ramp to I-71 northbound on the north side will close overnight (11 p.m. – 5 a.m.) Thursday, September 3.
- Detour: I-270 eastbound to Cleveland Ave. to I-270 westbound to I-71 northbound.
- The I-270 eastbound ramp to I-71 southbound on the north side will close overnight (11 p.m. – 5 a.m.) Thursday, September 3.
- Detour: I-270 eastbound to Cleveland Ave. to I-270 westbound to I-71 southbound.
I-71/Main St. Interchange Improvements
- The I-71 southbound ramp to Main St. will close overnight (9 p.m. – 5a.m.) Sunday, August 30 through Friday, September 4.
- Detour: I-71 southbound to Spring St. to Broad St. to Parsons Ave. to Main St.
- The I-71 southbound ramp to Main St. will close starting 7 p.m. Friday, September 11 through 5 a.m. Monday, September 14.
- Detour: I-71 southbound to Spring St. to Broad St. to Parsons Ave. to Main St.
- I-71 southbound between E Town St. and Main St. will be reduced to two lanes starting 7 p.m. Friday, September 11 through 5 a.m. Monday, September 14.
- Main St. eastbound between the Main-Rich St. connector and I-71 will be reduced to one lane (9 a.m. – 3 p.m.) Friday, August 28.
I-71 Bridge Repair
- The I-71 southbound ramp to I-70 eastbound will be reduced to one lane overnight (10 p.m. – 5 a.m.) Monday, August 31 to Thursday, September 3.
- The I-670 eastbound ramp to I-71 southbound will close overnight (10 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Monday, August 31 through Thursday, September 3.
- Detour: I-670 eastbound to Leonard Ave. to I-670 westbound to I-71 southbound.
- The I-71 southbound ramp to I-70 eastbound will close overnight (10 p.m. – 5 a.m.) Tuesday, September 1.
- Detour: I-71 southbound to I-70 westbound to Broad St. to I-70 eastbound.
- The Hilliard-Rome Rd. ramp to I-70 westbound will close overnight (6 p.m. – 5 a.m.) Sunday, August 30.
- Detour: Hilliard-Rome Rd. to I-70 eastbound to I-270 northbound to I-70 westbound.
- The Hilliard-Rome Rd. ramp to I-70 westbound will close overnight (8 p.m. – 5 a.m.) Monday, August 31 though Tuesday, September 1.
- Detour: Hilliard-Rome Rd. to I-70 eastbound to I-270 northbound to I-70 westbound.
Continuing Impacts
- I-270 between Alum Creek Dr. and I-70 on the southeast side will have various overnight lane restrictions (7 p.m. – 5 a.m.) starting Thursday, August 13th through Wednesday, September 30.
- U.S. 33 between Fishinger Rd. and SR 161 will close starting Monday, August 3 for 45 days.
- Detour: U.S. 33 to SR 161 to I-270 to Cemetery Rd./Fishinger Rd. or reverse.
- I-70 westbound traffic will be shifted to the eastbound side of the roadway starting overnight Tuesday, December 9, 2025. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained in each direction through Fall 2026.
- Brice Rd. over I-70 will be reduced to one lane in each direction starting Saturday, August 2, 2025. Two left turn lanes on Brice Rd. northbound to I-70 WB will be maintained.
