Certus Medical LLC, an orthopedic medical device sales and clinical services company based in Indianoplis, has selected the Columbus Region for its next regional advanced technology hub surgical training lab. The company plans to create 45 high-paying jobs at their new 5,000-square-foot facility in Westerville, which will support the company’s continued expansion across
the Midwest and East Coast.

The new facility will bring together Certus Medical’s Ohio commercial operations and a state-of-the-art anatomical surgical training laboratory. The facility will provide orthopedic surgeons with hands-on opportunities to train in advanced joint replacement techniques, surgical navigation technology and other evolving orthopedic technologies.

“Ohio surgeons and hospitals deserve the best clinical support in the country, and that means investing in people and training infrastructure here in Ohio,” said Zac Gerdts, President of Certus Medical. “The training lab is at the heart of this project. It will allow us to bring surgeons together for hands-one experience with the latest technology while continuing to develop the highly skilled clinical talent this field requires. Westerville provides the right combination of location workforce and commitment to medical technology to support that vision”

The project will also support the creation of highly specialized clinical and technical positions, including surgical navigation specialist supporting augmented-reality guidance systems in operating rooms, clinical professionals assisting with patient-specific implant planning, and technical staff supporting advanced surgical instrumentation. These professionals will work directly alongside surgeons and hospital teams to support procedures and patient care.

“Certus Medical is an excellent fit for Westerville, since it will be strategically located near one of the largest clinical and administrative healthcare industry clusters in the Columbus Region,” said Rachel Ray, Economic Development Director for the City of Westerville. “We’re proud to welcome Certus Medical to our Medical Mile and our growing healthcare and life sciences ecosystem.”

Certus Medical assumed responsibility for its Ohio orthopedic market in March 2026, retaining the existing Ohio field organization and transitioning those professionals to Certus Medical employees with comprehensive medical and retirement benefits. That transition helped maintain continuity of clinical support for hospitals and surgical teams throughout Ohio. The Westerville investment builds on that foundation by establishing permanent training and operational capabilities within the state.

“The strongest life sciences regions connect innovation with the people who put it into practice,” said Jonas Peterson, chief economic development officer and president of One Columbus. “Certus Medical’s new Westerville operation will create that connection by bringing surgical teams and industry partners here for advanced training. It deepens our healthcare network and adds another capability that sets the Columbus Region apart as a place for life sciences companies to grow.”

Westerville’s 2.6-mile Medical Mile, located generally along Cleveland Avenue and Polaris Parkway, features most of the major healthcare systems in the Columbus Region. The City recently earned Ohio Life Sciences’ Premier Life Science Ready Community designation, the organization’s highest recognition for communities positioned to support biotech and life sciences growth. Westerville is located along the I-71 Ohio Discovery Corridor, connecting leading innovation districts and institutions from Columbus to Cleveland and Cincinnati.

“Ohio’s life sciences strategy connects companies to the research strength, clinical expertise and talent of the Ohio Discovery Corridor,” said JobsOhio President and CEO J.P. Nauseef. “Certus Medical’s expansion proves it works. The company is adding specialized jobs and a national training asset in Westerville, strengthening a statewide network built to advance medical innovation and positioning Certus for its next stage of growth.”

The facility will be located at 194 Heatherdown Road in Westerville.
