The State of Ohio will exempt certain school supplies and clothing from the state sales tax during the first weekend in August.

The three-day sales tax break will be Friday, August 2 at 12 AM to Sunday, August 4 at 11:59 PM.

During this period, the following items will be exempt from state sales and use taxes:

  • An item of clothing priced at $75 or less;
  • An item of school supplies priced at $20 or less; and
  • An item of school instructional material priced at $20 or less.

Items used in a trade or business are not exempt under the sales tax holiday.
