An upcoming series of sessions offered by the local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI Delaware & Morrow Counties), beginning later this month, is geared toward those in parenting roles for children and adolescents with mental health conditions.

NAMI Basics is a free, six-session program designed for parents and grandparents with these kinds of issues, including anxiety, ADHD, depression, ODD, etc. The aim is to give those caregivers the information, knowledge and skills they need.

Learn how to support and better understand your child while also taking care of yourself.

Topics include the biological basis of mental health conditions, the impact of mental illness on the family, self-care, problem solving strategies and dealing with behavioral challenges, navigating the school and mental health systems, and more.

Program sessions will take place from 10 AM to Noon on Thursdays between September 19 and October 24. The venue is 241070 Polaris Pkwy, Suite 200.

Registration can be done online at namiofdel-mor.org/namibasics. For more information, contact Sarah at shyatt@namiofdel-mor.org or 740-815-1767.
