The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission, which includes Delaware County and its cities, has expanded with the addition of two new city members.

MORPC, a regional council of over 70 local governments and agencies in Central Ohio, serves the region through planning, direct service, public policy information, innovative programming and intergovernmental coordinating services in the areas of transportation, land use, energy conservation, the environment and housing.

The acceptance of the City of Circleville as a member took place on February 13 following an ordinance to join MORPC that was previously approved by the city.

“Circleville is a vital part of a thriving Central Ohio region, and we’re excited for their leadership on regional issues. We look forward to bringing additional services to their residents and businesses and hope to be a resource in planning for economic growth and transportation,” said MORPC Executive Director William Murdock.

The acceptance of the City of Chillicothe as a member also took place on February 13 following a resolution to join MORPC that was previously approved by the city.

“As Chillicothe continues to plan for the future and position itself as a destination for families to live, work and visit, MORPC will be an important partner toward achieving those goals, and I look forward to working together,” stated Chillicothe Mayor Luke Feeny.

The MORPC board meets 10 times a year to discuss important regional issues, guide the direction of MORPC’s work, network with local leaders to discuss common problems, create solutions to shared regional challenges and provide input on funding decisions. Additional benefits of serving on MORPC’s board include grants and funding opportunities, educational forums, training and seminars, technical assistance and data, and policy development.
