Are you a budding filmmaker? Now that you are homebound during the pandemic, your talent may be enough to qualify you for a bit of local fame.
The Greater Columbus Film Commission has announced a “Stuck at Home” Film Contest for anyone in the film industry in Franklin County or surrounding counties, including Delaware.
The contest includes cash prizes.
Submissions are accepted through April 15 and will be split into categories depending on length. Each film must be short and edited on a smartphone.
Case prizes range from $100 to $500. There will also be an audience award winner who will receive $500 to be split between the filmmaker and the musician or band providing the soundtrack.
“I’m really concerned about our local crew that work in the film industry,” says Film Commissioner John Daugherty. “These folks are freelancers and are in crisis mode trying to keep up with bills and expenses. We hope this contest will help a little both financially and mentally. Staying busy and having a creative outlet is very important.”
