On Thursday, a new retailer arrived in Delaware County.

Friendship Kitchen, celebrating its 70th anniversary of its founding corporation with this first-ever convenience store in central Ohio, has historically been based in Lake Erie shoreline communities in the northern part of the state.

It was in 1986 that that corporation ventured into the retail business.

According to its website, “FriendShip has been family owned and operated since 1986. Founder Bill Beck and son Brian founded FriendShip with one thing in mind — treating customers like guests in their own home. They opened the first two FriendShip stores in Port Clinton, a beautiful shoreline community on Lake Erie.”

FriendShip convenience stores offer fresh and ready-to-go meals including their famous “FriendShip Famous Chicken.” At FriendShip Kitchens, which represent nine of the current 27 locations, the emphasis is on food with gas and convenience store products available by taking a back seat. Pizza, “meat bowls,” catering trays, and more are on offer.

The Delaware County location is located at 45 Coal Bend Road, on the west side of US23 at the Lewis Center Road intersection.

A Grand Opening event is running until July 29, and will feature special events, promotions, deals, and giveaways. Guests can register for drawings to win free gas or free FriendShip Famous Chicken dinners for a year.
