Two Delaware Countians were recently appointed to statewide positions by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine.

Cathann A. Kress of Powell was reappointed to the Ohio Livestock Care Standards Board for a term beginning July 31, 2020, and ending January 25, 2023.

In 2009, Ohioans passed a constitutional amendment requiring that the State of Ohio establish comprehensive livestock care standards. Since then the Ohio Livestock Care Standards Board has been created to obtain public input and recommend guidelines for the Ohio Department of Agriculture to adopt as rules under the authority of the Director of Agriculture and State Veterinarian.

John Johnson of Westerville was reappointed to the Board of Building Standards for a term beginning July 31, 2020, and ending October 13, 2023.

Functions of the Board of Building Standards include:

  • Formulating, adopting, and amended the building, mechanical, plumbing, elevator, boiler, and pressure piping codes for Ohio.
  • Certifying municipal, county, and township building departments to exercise enforcement authority and to accept and approve plans and specifications, and to make inspections and inspect power, regrigerating, hydraulic, heating, oxygen, and other gaseous piple and liquified petroleum gas piping systems.
  • Conducting hearings and to make investigations as deemed necessary of desirable in the discharge of its duties.
