It’s a good thing that the length of meetings are not always measured by how long the agenda is that goes with them. If they were, Delaware City Council would need to bring their sleeping bags with them on Monday night.

At 7PM Delaware City Council will be considering several measures in its regular meeting. The Council packet which accompanies those pieces of legislation has a whopping 276 pages of information.

Included are approval of a Preliminary Subdivision Plat for Rutherford Acres and Troy Acres considered recently by the Planning Commission, Our story on that proposal can be accessed here:

Also on the agenda are a fourth reading of a new 2021-2025 Five Year Capital Improvement Plan, as well as authorizing expenditure of third round CARES Act funding. The amount involved for direct City expenses is $656,315, which would be used for City Hall improvements, City facility HVAC and filtration upgrades, agenda and streaming software, and recreation online software, among other expenses.

In addition, requests have been received by area organizations (“partner agencies”) for the following amounts:

  • Delaware City Schools – $177,000.00
  • Main Street Delaware Marketing – $30,748.00
  • Delaware CVB Marketing – $25,000.00
  • United Way of Delaware –  $400,000.00
  • Second Ward Community Initiative – $150,912.00
