Delaware Countians will soon have a clear, strong signal from a Columbus radio station that has come back to the airwaves in a new incarnation.
WWCD, also known as CD102.5, has been known as Columbus’ home for alternative music since 1990. After a short hiatus when it broadcast solely in digital format, it is now again on the air and has plans to head north with a second transmitter.
The new CD92.9 will not only broadcast from the top of the Huntington Center across from the Ohio Statehouse in downtown Columbus, but it will be broadcasting from Delaware as well starting in January 2021.
To make this happen, the current WDLR in Delaware will be moving to 1270AM and 96.7FM, retaining its format and call letters. WDLR will be celebrating its 60th anniversary soon, having been a part of the community since January 18, 1961.
The Delaware transmitter for CD92.9 will have new call letters which will be announced shortly.
As stated by the station on its website, “This move ensures the station’s continued independence and long-term sustainability. This will be the third – and final – move on the radio dial for the station.”
