While it may not be in Delaware County, positive economic news arrived last week to a township on its border.
Ohio Laser LLC, a leading provider of laser cutting and value-added welding services for manufacturers across all business sectors, has announced plans to expand its operations in Union County’s Jerome Township by 57,000 square feet, investing more than $10 million for construction, machinery and equipment.
With this investment, the company is creating 30 new jobs, with hiring for laser, machine and press brake operators to begin upon expansion completion in late 2023. The company will almost double its footprint at its current facility at 8260 Estates Parkway, increasing production capacity with the use of new industry-leading equipment and increased personnel.
With the most advanced automated laser, tube and pipe cutting capabilities in the Midwest, the company has expanded its growth across a variety of industries such as automotive and electric vehicles, conveyance systems, fitness equipment and others. The company is expanding its local presence thanks to continued contract growth nationwide.
“Ohio Laser is proud to be building, innovating and growing in the Columbus Region’s strong manufacturing industry for more than two decades,” said Gregg Simpson, president of Ohio Laser. “This expansion not only improves our ability to serve major national contracts, but it also allows us to continue our commitment to employees, cutting-edge technology and customer service.”
Founded in 1997, Ohio Laser currently has more than 70 employees in the Columbus Region. With this expansion, Ohio Laser is deepening its Ohio roots, continuing its more than 20 successful years in the region. Its expansion in Plain City will help support continued national growth, provide Ohioans with high quality jobs and further the company’s world-class manufacturing capabilities.
“We are thrilled to support a major expansion from a longtime manufacturer in the community,” said Bill Narducci, Union County Administrator. “The company’s growing presence adds to our diverse and expansive manufacturing capabilities, while adding more high-paying jobs to the local economy.”
The Columbus Region represents the future of manufacturing and boasts a diverse manufacturing operation that spans industries from automotive and electronics to machinery, materials, aerospace and consumer goods. Some of the world’s largest brands manufacture products in the Columbus Region including Honda, Boeing, Scotts Miracle-Gro, Whirlpool and Abbott. The Region is home to over 1,700 manufacturing establishments with nearly 90,000 employees.
“Focusing on customer service and advancing innovation with Ohio’s world-class talent has been essential to Ohio Laser’s success,” said J.P. Nauseef, JobsOhio president and CEO. “Ohio Laser has been thriving in the Columbus Region since its founding more than two decades ago, which has had a strong positive impact on U.S. industry as well as job creation here in Ohio.”
