A new brewery with a story rooted in friendship, community, and homebrewing has opened its doors in Westerville. Campfire Brewing, located at 6300 Frost Rd., officially launched on January 11, offering an inviting space for families and friends to gather over craft beers, cocktails, and even s’mores.

From Garage Hobby to Community Hub

Campfire Brewing was born from a shared passion among four neighbors who transformed a Saturday morning hobby into a full-scale brewing operation. What started in 2019 as Dan’s garage brewing experiment quickly became a bonding experience for neighbors Eric, Brett, and eventually Roland. Their Saturday rituals of brewing beer, gathering by backyard campfires, and welcoming friends and families sparked the idea of creating a space to share their craft with the wider Westerville community.

The concept of Campfire Brewing pays homage to those formative years. The name itself reflects the signal fires used to gather neighbors to sample new brews. Now, the brewery aims to bring that same warmth and camaraderie to its patrons.

What’s on Tap

Campfire Brewing offers a variety of options that cater to a wide range of tastes. The opening-day menu featured seven draft beers, each crafted to be approachable and flavorful. The brewery focuses on creating a diverse lineup to ensure there’s something for everyone.

Beyond beer, Campfire Brewing has a substantial cocktail menu and a selection of non-alcoholic beverages for guests who want to enjoy the experience without alcohol.

While the brewery doesn’t have a kitchen, food options are readily available. Patrons can order delivery from nearby Yabo’s Tacos, and food trucks will frequently park onsite to add variety to the dining experience.

A Unique Atmosphere

Stepping into Campfire Brewing feels like gathering around a backyard fire with friends. Each picnic table inside the taproom is equipped with a mini solo stove, where guests can roast marshmallows using s’mores kits available for purchase.

The brewery was designed to be family-friendly, with children welcome until 7:00 PM. The aim is to provide a space where families, friends, and neighbors can relax, enjoy good company, and create new memories.

Hours and Location

Campfire Brewing is conveniently located just one mile from where it all began, the garage that hosted its first brewing session. The brewery’s hours are:

  • Monday-Thursday: 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM
  • Friday-Saturday: 12:00 PM – 11:00 PM

The Journey to Opening Day

Opening Campfire Brewing wasn’t an overnight process. After their initial homebrewing experiments, the founders spent years perfecting their techniques, honing flavor profiles, and upgrading their equipment. By 2024, they were ready to bring their vision to life, with the full support of their families.

The team credits the backyard campfires and their supportive neighborhood for the inspiration behind their brewery. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, their gatherings became a lifeline for connection and community. Now, that spirit is baked into every aspect of Campfire Brewing.

Pull Up a Chair

For the founders of Campfire Brewing, this isn’t just about beer — it’s about creating a space where everyone feels welcome. Whether you’re stopping by for a pint, a cocktail, or just to roast a marshmallow with friends, Campfire Brewing promises to bring a sense of community to every visit.
