ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc. (ATS), an industry-leading automation solutions provider, has announced plans to combine its two facilities in the Columbus Region and expand its operations at a new 25 acre site in Lewis Center, targeting the creation of at least 40 new jobs. Hiring for management, engineering, technical, production and administrative positions is expected to begin in Q1 2020.

ATS will consolidate its two existing locations and build a redesigned facility on Corduroy Road in Lewis Center. The new facility will allow the company to expand its operations in the Region and add capacity to produce automation machinery for a variety of customer applications including automotive power storage systems.

“ATS is pleased to take the next step in our long-term growth strategy by bringing our operations under one roof in Delaware County,” said Andrew Hider, CEO at ATS. “By strategically consolidating our operations with a new modernized manufacturing facility in the Columbus Region, we will continue to benefit from the rich local talent pool and collaborative business environment.”

ATS provides innovative, custom designed, built and installed automated manufacturing solutions to many of the world’s most successful companies. Founded in 1978, ATS employs approximately 4,300 people at 23 manufacturing facilities and more than 50 offices in North America, Europe, Southeast Asia and China.

“This expansion furthers the impressive commercial and industrial growth we’ve seen throughout the U.S. 23 Corridor in recent years,” said Bob Lamb, director at Delaware County Development. “We’re proud that Delaware County can offer top market access and a highly skilled workforce for solution providers like ATS.”

The Columbus Region is home to more than 1,700 manufacturers with over 85,000 employees. The Region draws world-class manufacturing companies with its competitive pool of talent from more than 100 related training programs, supplemented by its access to more U.S. and Canadian markets within a day’s drive than any other major metro.

“ATS’ expansion will create 40 new jobs in Delaware County, where its new facility will play a vital role in the company’s global success in the energy storage industry,” said Glenn Richardson, managing director for advanced manufacturing at JobsOhio. “We look forward to working with ATS as it continues to provide manufacturers innovative automation equipment and solutions with talent from the Columbus Region.”
