Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced a consumer protection lawsuit against a Columbus-area man accused of failing to deliver golf cart parts and other items he sold online to consumers.[widgets_on_pages id=1]

Craig O. Seitz, doing business as Franklin Golf Car Company and Franklin Online Sales, is accused of violating consumer protection laws. According to the lawsuit, Seitz operated several different websites, including franklinsales.com, franklingolfcar.com, franklinflagsupply.com, and franklinoutdoors.com, where he advertised golf cart parts, flags, and other items for sale.

Consumers complained that after they paid, they never received the products they ordered and the company did not refund their money. Reported consumer losses from about 50 unresolved complaints total approximately $10,000.

The lawsuit, filed in the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas, accuses Seitz of failing to deliver promised goods and failing to register business names with the Ohio Secretary of State. In the lawsuit, the Attorney General seeks reimbursement for consumers and an end to any violations of the Ohio Consumer Sales Practices Act.

Attorney General DeWine also reminded consumers to research sellers before doing business with them. For example, consumers may search for complaints filedwith the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, find out if the seller’s business name is registered with the Ohio Secretary of State’s Office, check with the Better Business Bureau for information, conduct online searches of a seller’s name, business name, and/or website, and check court filings with the local clerk of courts.

Consumers who suspect an unfair or deceptive sales practice should contact the Ohio Attorney General’s Office at www.OhioProtects.org or 800-282-0515.
