Much has been written and will continue to be written about the extremely large investment being made in northwest Licking County by Intel. We have written about the ramifications of this development often in the year since that announcement was made.

The initial investment is more than $20 billion in the construction of two new leading edge chip factories, designed to help boost production to meet the surging demand for advanced semiconductors.

As the largest single private-sector investment in Ohio history, the initial phase of the project is expected to create 3,000 Intel jobs, 7,000 construction jobs over the course of the build, and support tens of thousands of additional local long-term jobs across a broad ecosystem of suppliers and partners.

The company has marked the anniversary by sharing both a name for the development and a set of plant renderings.

In a blog post, Jim Evers, Intel Ohio General Manager, shared, “The work we have done so far is not only changing the future for Ohioans, but also changing the future for the entire U.S. domestic semiconductor manufacturing industry. On the anniversary of our monumental announcement, I wanted to look back on all the progress made in Ohio — and look ahead to everything still to come.”

Evers shared the development’s new name – “Ohio One.” “Ohio One will bring a new epicenter of leading-edge technology and signifies Pat’s big bet on bringing innovation and cutting-edge manufacturing leadership back to Ohio and the Midwest. Ohio One represents a nod to the past and a look to the future of technology innovation for the Midwest and America,” he shared.

That post can be read here.

Two of the renderings released on Monday can be viewed below, and another is above.

As has been noted in previous posts, the location of Ohio One lies just a few thousand feet from the Delaware County line.
