LA Fitness members on the north side of Columbus will soon lose a long-running workout spot. The company has announced that its Polaris Parkway gym will close its doors on December 18, the same day its Hilliard location will shut down. Notices went up in both buildings, giving members just over two weeks to prepare for the change.

A Sudden End on a Busy Corridor

The Polaris site at 2100 Polaris Parkway sits in one of the region’s heaviest retail and dining corridors. For years it has drawn a steady mix of commuters, nearby residents, and workers from offices clustered around the interstate. The closure removes one of the few full-service fitness centers directly in the Polaris Fashion Place area, and it leaves members weighing new routines as winter approaches.

The company has described the decision only as the result of “business reasons,” without offering a more specific explanation. Nothing indicates a temporary shutdown or a plan to rebrand the facility.

What Members Should Expect

Members tied to Polaris or Hilliard will keep access to other LA Fitness locations, including Signature clubs, under their existing plans. Still, it’s worth checking your account to confirm billing details and your listed home club. Calling another LA Fitness site before December 18 is a practical way to avoid surprises during the transition.

Staff at the closing gyms are being offered the chance to transfer to other central Ohio locations.

Where LA Fitness Will Remain Open

After December 18, four area gyms will continue operating:

• Graceland Boulevard near Clintonville
• Old Hamilton Road on the East Side
• Goodale Boulevard near downtown
• East Broad Street on the East Side

Those sites will absorb members from both closing clubs, at least for now.

A Shift in the Local Fitness Map

For Polaris residents, the change reshuffles a competitive landscape that already includes several boutique studios, national chains, and smaller independent gyms. Losing a large, full-service option creates space in a market that rarely stays quiet for long.
