It was announced on Friday from many sources that Payless Shoesource is closing all remaining retail locations, a decision which impacts over 2,000 stores — including the location in Lewis Center.

The company will be holding liquidation sales starting on Sunday in most locations, and all operations are set to be finished by May. The online, e-commerce version of Payless will be shuttered as well.

At its peak just a handful of years ago, Payless Shoesource had over 4,000 stores in multiple locations. It underwent a bankruptcy proceeding in 2017.

On Friday, the following was posted on the Payless Shoesource Associates Public Group page on Facebook: “Just completely disgusted that we have to read about our stores closing in the news and not even hear it from our own company.”

Payless has a location in the North Pointe Plaza at 94 Meadow Park Avenue in Lewis Center, just off of US23.
