Powell is about to get a whole lot sweeter as Johnson’s Real Ice Cream, a beloved Central Ohio institution, announces its seventh location. The Bexley-based brand plans to open its doors at 4290 Home Road in early spring 2025, just in time to celebrate a milestone—their 75th anniversary.

This new shop adds to the growing list of Johnson’s Real Ice Cream locations, with recent expansions in 2024 bringing their handcrafted flavors to Grandview Heights, Canal Winchester, and Italian Village.

A New Scoop Spot in Powell

The Powell location promises an inviting space with its 1,400-square-foot layout. Highlights include:

  • Indoor and Outdoor Seating: Cozy indoor options and a covered patio will create the perfect setting for indulging in a favorite scoop.
  • Signature Offerings: Guests can enjoy Johnson’s signature handcrafted ice cream, cakes, pies, and novelties. Popular flavors like Buckeye Fever, Black Raspberry Chip, and Campfire S’mores will be on the menu, alongside dairy-free favorites such as Double Chocolate and Mint Chocolate Chip.
  • Community Connection: Johnson’s is planning special events and promotions to commemorate their 75th anniversary in 2025.

A Legacy of Ice Cream Excellence

Founded in 1950 in Bexley, Ohio, Johnson’s Real Ice Cream has become a cherished part of the Central Ohio community. A fourth-generation family business, the company takes pride in using fresh, locally sourced ingredients to create its premium ice cream.

From their first shop in Bexley to their recent expansions, Johnson’s has built a reputation as more than just an ice cream parlor—it’s a gathering place for friends and families to create memories.

Expanding the Scoop

The Powell location continues the momentum of Johnson’s growth. In 2024 alone, three new shops opened in Grandview Heights, Canal Winchester, and Italian Village, joining their existing locations in Dublin, New Albany, and their flagship Bexley store.

Join the Celebration

With 2025 marking Johnson’s 75th anniversary, the brand is going all out to celebrate. Fans can expect nostalgic flavors, fun contests, and community events as part of the festivities.
