Sensience, a leader in advanced sensing technologies that improve safety and sustainability, has announced that it is moving its global headquarters from Mansfield to Westerville. The move enables the company, formerly the Therm-O-Disc business of Emerson, to better capitalize on growth opportunities available to it as an independent company.

Sensience works with OEMs in the consumer appliance, HVAC, automotive and other industries to design and manufacture sensors and controls that put systems in touch with their surroundings to maintain safety and enable sustainability. Producing nearly one billion sensors annually, Sensience counts leading manufacturers such as Whirlpool, Daikin and BAE Systems among its customers. The company has also recently taken a leadership position in supporting the transition to low-environmental impact refrigerants in commercial and residential air conditioning systems by becoming the first to offer a UL-certified sensing solutions for A2L refrigerants.

“The key markets we serve are advancing and evolving in ways that are increasing demand for reliable and innovative sensing technologies and we are moving aggressively to take advantage of those opportunities,” said Julie Furber, Sensience CEO. “This new location gives us the space to grow, expands the talent pool we can access, and puts us close to both major highways and an international airport.”

Sensience, which had been headquartered in Mansfield, will lease 30,000 square feet at 570 Polaris Parkway in the Westar Development Center. The location will house engineering, product management, sales, and support functions.

“Westerville is excited to welcome Sensience to our community,” said Westerville City Manager Monica Dupee. “They join a number of other companies that have chosen to headquarter in the Westar area, which offers convenient access to a talented workforce and amenities including nature trails and dining options. As a community that values diversity, we are particularly excited for a woman-led global engineering and manufacturing company to call Westerville home.”

“We are committed to keeping jobs in Ohio and growing our workforce here,” said Furber. “This move enhances our ability to support our customers today and gives us the space to expand as we grow.”
