After more than a year of anticipation, Mikey’s Late Night Slice has put a date on its arrival at Polaris. The Columbus-born pizza company will celebrate the grand opening of its new Polaris restaurant on Friday, August 28, at 4:00 PM. The location is at 2136 Ikea Way inside The Galaxy at Polaris, the growing mixed-use district near IKEA and Topgolf.
Free Slices for the Early Crowd
Mikey’s is giving customers an incentive to arrive early. The first 100 people in line will receive a card good for a free slice and a limited-edition Mikey’s Late Night Slice T-shirt. “Polaris, here we come!” the company declared in its grand-opening announcement, adding that it was ready to “pizza party” after a lengthy buildout.
The opening represents the company’s third new Ohio location this year and its 12th location overall, following recent additions in Dayton and Grandview.
More Than a Slice Counter
The Polaris restaurant will offer the familiar oversized, New York-inspired slices that helped turn Mikey’s into a Columbus late-night fixture. It will also be a full-service destination with a bar, frozen Slushies and Lushies, and a “Saucy Bar” stocked with the company’s lineup of dipping sauces.
The Mikey’s menu ranges from cheese, pepperoni and roasted-garlic mushroom slices to vegan pepperoni and barbecue chick’n options. Whole-pie choices include Mikey’s Favorite, topped with pepperoni, mushrooms and banana peppers, along with rotating Pizza of the Week creations. The company also plans to bring several of its regular promotions to Polaris. Those include Happy Hour, Date Night and the Dysfunctional Family Deal, a $60 package containing a whole pizza, breadsticks, four beers and four shots.
A New Kind of Polaris Nightlife
Founder Mike “Mikey” Sorboro launched Late Night Slice in 2009, building the company around pizza by the slice, unconventional branding and hours designed for customers whose evening was not ending with dinner. That formula has gradually moved beyond central Columbus. Mikey’s opened suburban locations at Easton Town Center and Dublin’s Bridge Park in 2024, part of an expansion that followed customers into newer residential and entertainment districts.
Polaris is another step in that direction.
The restaurant is part of The Galaxy at Polaris, a mixed-use development planned to include more than 600 residential units and over 130,000 square feet of commercial space at full buildout. Developers have positioned the project as an entertainment district anchored by local restaurants and Ohio’s first Puttshack.
For Mikey’s, the location also offers something Polaris has not traditionally been known for: a locally rooted restaurant operating well into the night. “Our goal is to amp up Westerville nightlife,” Sorboro said in the company’s announcement.
