A longstanding Westerville restaurant has temporarily closed its doors.
Sandman Pizza, located at 440 Polaris Parkway, has been shuttered. In a social media post announcing the news that is echoed on the restaurant’s website, they shared, “We’ve thoroughly enjoyed serving you and bringing gourmet pizza to the Westerville community. While we’re no different than other restaurants in these difficult times, certain operational challenges have made for a tough road ahead in the immediate future.
As a result, we’re going to take a breather and call this a “temporary hiatus.” We’re closing this week but make no mistake—we intend to be back soon, better than before. And we can’t wait.
If you have purchased a gift card, you are more than welcome to give us a call and we will reimburse you for the gift card or you can hang onto it until we re-engage.
We greatly appreciate your support and allowing us to make delicious pizza for you and your families. We’ll see you soon!”
Website 614now.com suggests that the closure is related to the current pandemic. It is certain that even though some aspects of life are returning to some sense of normalcy, many restaurants are continuing to be negatively impacted.
John Barker, President and CEO of the Ohio Restaurant Association shared recently, ““All signals for our industry are red with declining customer traffic, soaring inflation for food and supplies, and ongoing pressure on employee shortages. This is on top of a 22-month roller coaster for our industry that resulted in more than 3,150 restaurants closing in our state.”
