Would you like a summer activity that is fun and educational?

The Delaware County Records Center is sponsoring the Archives Crawl this month, the mission of which is to learn about local history in a fun and interactive way. To play, take your passport to as many of the repositories as you can to learn more about local history.

The archives crawl begins on July 1 and runs through July 31 at noon. Participating repositories are:

  • Big Walnut Area Historical Society who operates the Myers Inn Museum
  • Community Library of Sunbury
  • Cryder Historical Center and Research Library of the Delaware County Historical Society
  • Delaware County District Library (Main, Orange, Ostrander, Powell branches)
  • Delaware County Genealogical Society
  • Delaware County Model Railroad Group
  • Delaware County Records Center
  • Galena Historic Foundation
  • Gallant Farms of Preservation Parks of Delaware County
  • Meeker Homestead Museum of the Delaware County Historical Society
  • Morrow County Genealogical Society
  • The Ohio Fallen Heroes Memorial
  • Powell Liberty Historical Society Martin Perry Homestead
  • Radnor Historic Museum
  • Stratford Ecological Center
  • Wornstaff Memorial Library.

After your visit to a location, have a staff or volunteer person initial or stamp and date your passport.  To be eligible for gift bags your passport must be turned in to one of the participating repositories by noon on July 31.

The passport can be printed out at https://recordscenter.co.delaware.oh.us.  Once on the Delaware County Records Center website, the sidebar on the left hand side of the page has a tab that says “Archives Crawl.”  Click on the archives crawl tab to find the passport.

The passport needs to be printed double sided, selecting “flip pages on short edge.”  Once all the pages are printed, fold the pages in half so the passport pages can be flipped through like a book.

Please call Chris Shaw, Delaware County Records Center Coordinator, at (740)833-2141 with any questions.
