Drivers in Delaware will need to wait just a little longer before using Central Avenue again. The City has announced a short delay in the reopening of the road as part of the ongoing Point Improvement Project.

Originally slated to reopen by September 6, the road is now expected to reopen by Friday, September 12. The delay comes as crews finish connecting a new water line before paving begins.

Why the Work Matters

According to project officials, completing this step now avoids a bigger headache later. Without the delay, the freshly paved road would have to be dug up again during the next phase of the project. By extending the closure a few more days, the City can ensure the water line is in place and the pavement remains intact.

Staying Informed

The City has set up a project webpage at www.delawareohio.net/pointproject, which includes a live video feed and additional information. Residents with questions are encouraged to email pointproject@delawareohio.net.

Updates will continue to be shared on the City’s website as the project progresses.

A Note to Residents

“We understand this extension is inconvenient and appreciate the community’s patience as we complete this important work,” the City stated in its update.
